These students live in a city recently ranked by Morgan Quito Press among the top 25 \"Most Dangerous\" cities in our nation. In some instances, these students are safer boarding a plane to a foreign country than they are walking home from school. TROYBOY FOUNDATION through the mentorship program, has worked with the AVID program for 2 years. AVID is an in-school academic support program that prepares middle-performance students for college eligibility and success. When these students began AVID many lacked the guidance and academic skills conducive to continuing on to higher education. In spite of the challenge of their environment and economic hardship, these students press boldly toward a brighter future. Many of whom will be the first in their families to graduate from a 4-year university.
EF Educational Tours, the leader in educational travel for the past four decades will be hosting the visit to London, Paris, and Madrid. During the 10-day educational excursion, students will taste what the world has to offer. Students are excited that they will experience first-hand the art, history, culture, people and places that they can only study about in school.
The program dubbed, "Project London", could pave the way for other inner-city youth to believe and achieve similar dreams that once seemed unreachable in our communities -- something TROYBOY CEO, Troy Campbell, would love to see happen.
Project London takes flight in August of 2008. In the meantime, this project needs the support of corporations and individuals to help this history making event come to fruition. To learn more, please visit www.troyboyinternational and www.projectlondon2008.com.
"It is not until students believe the stars are reachable, that they begin to reach for them", says Campbell
